October has been a busy month. So busy in fact, I’ve decided I need to take the month of November off. Just do school work, watch tons of movies and gain weight
Sounds like a marvelous plan.
School picked up in October. But that is boring. Interesting school side note though…Due to the huge debt AZ has acquired, ASU is having to make hefty cuts. Luckily because the Walter Cronkite school is the jewel of the school to our president, we won’t feel any of the pinch. However, my grad class met with our dean to discuss some other sour points, such as the fact they cut the PR classes and will only be hiring a part time PR lab director. Don’t worry, I’ll still graduate in May…just without as many PR classes as I would have liked.
Internships are going well…and not so well. My PR internship at Cause/Effect has involved mainly printing brochure after brochure for nearly two weeks. That doesn’t bother me so much as the realization that this business is so disorganized and wastes too much time. It annoys my delicate leadership sensibilities ![]()
The Visitor’s Bureau internship is rocking on the other hand. This weekend I am accompanying my boss on my first media familiarization tour (FAM). Basically members of the media from our target cities come for a tour of Phoenix. As part of the FAM, I get to ride the new light rail before it officially opens in December, have breakfast on the Mayor’s balcony, as well as get exclusive tours of half of the museums in Phoenix. All for free!! I hope I can stay working there after this semester…
SINCE I’M STAYING IN PHOENIX!!
It’s official. I’m here through Dec. 2009. I signed a lease to move into a house right behind my close friend here and live with her sister. I move in next month. I was worried that come May, I wasn’t going to be able to afford to move and I knew I didn’t want to get stuck living with my nudist roommate past then. The house is smaller with no yard, but Crissy (my soon to be roomie) runs 2 at home businesses and her sister (my friend Martha) lives down the street. So I’ll have two dog walkers within walking distance. Plus I have a fireplace AND my new roommate is an interior designer. Bonus for having a cute house
)
Sounds like things are looking up. Yay for you! I really want to come visit, but don’t know when/if I’ll ever find the time.
Awesome! Glad you found a place that will be more comfortable for ya…and no nude roomates.
