Small Town Feeling

Don’t think that just because I’m leaving Rio that the adventures are over. Oh no, there are surprises around every corner.

Last night was the 8th grade dance, otherwise known as the MORP. This was my big moment. We started decorating at 9am and didn’t finish until 4:30pm. One headache and some ass-kicking by D and S later, we had 200 students show and have a fantastic time. Haha, then I had to rip everything down. 7 hours of decorating wrecked in 45 minutes. Who wouldn’t need a drink after that ordeal?

Thanks to some good friends, mix of TFA and locals, I was carted home at 3:30am, exhausted and inebriated. On the way, we were pulled over by not one, but two Rio police officers. Don’t worry, I wasn’t driving. Apparently, we were going 35 in a 30. The police officer walked over to his car to write a warning, and that’s when our friend Joey, a recent addition to the police force walked over. You know you live in a small town when you know the cops. I leaned over, Amber Bock fresh on my breath, and asked him if I was allowed to invite him to our party tomorrow while he was on duty. Man, I’m going to miss this town. I’m definately not going to be able to ask police officers to come party, drunk (not driving drunk mom), while in the process of being pulled over anywhere else.
