I apologize once again for not updating. Considering how much time I spend typing and working with online media, you’d think one little blog would be no problem. Honestly, some days I don’t even want to see the internet.
As many of you have seen on my facebook status message, I am moving and starting a new job Monday. Here’s the story:
I’ve been working at Borders full time for the past 2 months as a bookseller. Easy work…I’ve done it before. Last Friday, they promoted me to Merchandising Supervisor, screwing over one of the other employees that had actually applied for the job. It was awkward, but luckily the employee knew where the anger was to be placed, which was not at me who never even applied for the job.
Then, this Tuesday, I received a call from my friend Michelle, who is the Alumni Director for the Teach for America office here in Phoenix. Her and I had met a month ago just to discuss my possible involvement with alumni activities here. Apparently, there was a job opening and my name came up. They asked me to come and interview that Wednesday. So I did, and 20 minutes later I was hired as the Program Administrator, to start. Right now it’s part time, with the option to go full time later as the Program Planner. Essentially, it’s organization and communication but exactly what I want to do with a company just voted number 8 on the top 10 places to launch your career. Not to mention, double the pay rate with less hours. So I took it. One week after being promoted at Borders, I turned in my two weeks notice. So bizarre and yet so incredibly delicious

Now, as to housing. My living situation changed when the roomie with the dog moved out about a month ago. He was the one I hung out with and he helped with Layla. When he moved out, my other roomie and new guy, essentially believed my dog to be invisible, and leave her in her cage when they’re home (the rare occasions they are). So I was commuting back and forth everyday, just to let Layla out for 45 minutes, before I’d have to haul butt back to Tempe for classes. Commuting is killer in gas. On top of that, I’m the maid for the household. Not that my roommates leave stuff all around. But they don’t do dishes, don’t empty the garbage or remember to take the bin out on trash day. And they’re never home! I didn’t move down here to live by myself! Plus, I pay way, way too much in utilities as my roomies are incredibly wasteful. So, time to move out. The new house I’m moving into is 15 minutes from anything I need; ASU, Borders (for now), the TFA office (for Monday) and even where my campus will be next year (downtown Phoenix). The girl roomie is incredibly outgoing and adores Layla. My room is twice the size and utilities are chump change.
So…life is good

Yay! I’m glad things are working out and looking up for you! Maybe I should move to Arizona…
