Hello. My name is Katie and I’m a read-aholic. You’d think that’d be a good thing. Well, in my mind, it’s a guilty pleasure because it’s young adult sci-fi/fantasy that I’m addicted to.
It began two weeks ago. I purchased a book called Twilight by Stephanie Meyer from our Scholastic book fair. It involved a love affair between a vampire and a human. Little did I know this book would suck me into the point where I was staying up until midnight on school nights reading. I don’t even stay up on school nights to get work done for the next day! If you want to know more about the plotline, visit her website. I haven’t felt my heart leap in ages because of a book. I also haven’t been so wrapped up I literally lose myself in the story.
That’s not to say I’ve never been “involved” with a book before. My love affair with Harry Potter continues, but his long absences leave me wanting to fill the space with something. I didn’t want to end the high that Twilight had left for me, so I expedited shipping on the second book in the series, New Moon. I read it in two days, staying in bed for 3 hours on Sunday morning to complete it. Unfortunately, the third and final book will not be released until August, but at least I’ve got Harry to fill the gap
