Excitement all around!
My summer trip season has begun as I have been in Vegas for the past two days, visiting my dear friend J. But before I get into the action here in the sin city, let me cover what happened before leaving Phoenix.
As many of you know, I’m trying to get my foot in the door when it comes to politics. After much debate, I decided upon Barack Obama as my candidate. I won’t spout my reasons here, but he’s got potential and more importantly, excellent fundraising which means possible future runs if he doesn’t make it here. Loyalty is rewarding in the campaign game. I’m pushing to be more than an average volunteer, so I applied to the campaign’s two day training session in Chicago. I doubt there was much to the process, but regardless, I was accepted and hopefully will become a team leader when I get back to Phoenix with my newly honed campaigning skills.
In addition to jump-starting my political career, I met with the Executive Director for Phoenix TFA to discuss opportunities with non-profits. She has connected me with Make A Difference and Communities in Action, both of which are looking for candidates in leadership positions. Kudos to TFA for the hookup!
So now onto the activities here in Vegas. I’ve been wanting to get a tattoo of a compass rose for a little longer than two years and my desire finally overcame my fears today. It was a very special piece with lots of meaning for me, as well as something I drew myself which makes it all the more unique. However, it didn’t come without it’s painful moments. The parts directly on my spine hurt real bad. J has pictures of my strained face, my knuckles white from gripping the table. But hey, it looks good
