Celebrate Love in All Forms
So tomorrow is the day for lovers…and a day for those without lovers to protest. Yes, the anti-Valentine has become as much a part of the tradition as teddy bears and chocolate. I’ve never been much of a fan, though to give creedence to that statement, I wasn’t when I was in a relationship either. But instead of rubbing my singlehood into monogamous couples faces, or lamenting my lack of a partner, I’ve decided to approach Valentine’s in a fresh new way.
I choose to celebrate love.
I celebrate love in all forms. I wish my friends that are happily married, engaged or otherwise attached all the happiness and luck for the future. May you enjoy each other and grow both as individuals and as a pair.
I celebrate the love of my family. Though I am thousands of miles of a way, you’re always willing to pick up the phone to join in the excitement of a good piece of news, or sympathize with the bad. You welcome me home with open arms as if I had never left.
I celebrate the love of my friends. Some I’ve known months, others practically a lifetime. Thank you for understanding and continuing to discover the depths of our souls together. I may not tell you enough that I care, but I love you.
I celebrate the love of my dog. Though she turned my life upside down and caused more frustration than excitement in her first year, I wouldn’t have survived without her. It is a joy and blessing to see her personality expand every day.
I celebrate the love of information…of movies…of trivia…of food…of a mug of hot chocolate when there’s a foot of snow outside…of flying home…of a good book…of beer and peanuts…of playing frisbee…of swimming in a pool…of getting a makeover…of texting…of…………………………………………………
